From the Principal's desk

In the 1960s, education in our taluk was a distant dream for most people. Shri Ganesh Hegde Dodmane took this as a challenge and made herculean efforts to make that dream real.

Shikshana Prasarak Samiti, established in 1952–53, became the mother body for institutions from KG to PG. Mahatma Gandhi Centenary College, the brainchild of Shri Ganesh Hegde Dodmane, opened in 1969, the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation, and was the first to offer higher education in the taluk.

Following the government's education policy, the PU section of M.G.C. College became an independent college in 2001, named Mahatma Gandhi Centenary Pre-University College. Founder principal Prof. Seetamma V. Bhat laid a strong foundation.

Academics

The college is committed to quality education at an affordable cost in Arts, Commerce and Science, and to the all-round development of every student.

Experienced teachers, known for their teaching, are the college's intellectual assets. A mentorship system helps teachers understand each student, academically and personally, and help them overcome difficulties. The college is accredited with an 'A' grade.

Campus & facilities

The college has been completely renovated by Chairman Shri Vinayakrao Hegde and Vice Chairman Dr. Shashibhushan Hegde. Skill and personality development are its prime focus.
