M.G.V.V. Highschool, Dodmane

History

This corner of Siddapur taluk was economically, educationally and socially among the most backward, and the first priority was to bring education to people where they lived. Many young people were missing out on high school because they could not go to distant towns such as Kumta or Sirsi. Shri Ganesh Hegde, a thinker, visionary, pioneer of co-operation and lover of education, started a high school in Dodmane in 1968.

Shri Ganapati S. Bhat, Shri Narayana Timmanna Bhat of Gadihitlu, Shri M. M. Hegde of Balesara, Shri Ganesh Bhat of Kallakai, Shri Srinivasa Shanbhag of Vandane, Shri Narayana Ramanath Hegde of Dodmane and many other well-wishers of education supported him in starting the school.

Today's Samiti Chairman, Shri Vinayakrao G. Hegde Dodmane, built an attractive, well-equipped new building in a very short time, with help from local donors and the school's alumni. More than 1,700 students have completed high school here so far.
